Epic Games Unveils Fun Facts About Unreal Engine In Southeast Asia
By Alleef Ashaari|April 10, 2023|0 Comment
Epic Games has revealed some statistics about the Unreal Engine, including substantial growth in Monthly Active Users of Unreal Engine with around a 30 percent uptick in Asia alone. This growth can be attributed to the release of Unreal Engine 5, which enables creators to realise next-generation real-time 3D content and experiences with greater freedom, fidelity, and flexibility.
Unreal Engine 5 was initially released in April 2022. Recently, the company also connected with local developer communities in Southeast Asia by introducing initiatives such as the Women Creators Programme as well as launching Unreal Authorised Training Centres (UATC) to develop local talent. In 2023, Epic Games plans to make its tools more accessible and give creators more power to do what they do best.
In the Women Creators Programme, 21 women were shortlisted — including Singaporean Digital Creative Director Jessica Tan, Indonesian Producer Ellen Xie, and Visual Effects Artist Zubaida Nila, who is representing Malaysia — where they had the opportunity to showcase their exceptional short films.
Meanwhile, Unreal Authorised Training Centres (UATC) and Unreal Authorized Instructors (UAI) will help to train the next generation of creators and professionals — equipping them with the necessary skills to be better prepared for the constantly evolving and highly competitive job market. These include 7 UATCs and 14 UAIs in the region, as of 2022.
Check out the statistics about the adoption of Unreal Engine in the Southeast Asian/Asian Pacific region below:
